Today Disney/Pixar released the theatrical trailer for their new CGI animated feature Brave. Set in the 10th century mystical Scottish Highlands, the story tells of Princess Merida, a brave archer who defies all traditions and has to fight off a beastly curse to restore peace in the land. With the voices of Scottish actress Kelly MacDonald and Kevin McKidd, who also voiced Captain John Soap MacTavish for Infinity Wards Modern Warfare III video game (which was released last week and has officially now broken all sales records: 1.5 million people bought their copy on the night of November 8/9, 6.4 million copies were sold that day generating $ 400 million within the first 24 hours).







Brave, originally titled The Bear and the Bow, is directed by Marc Andrews and Brenda Chapman. Also responsible for story development on Disneys Beauty and the Beast in 1991, Chapman wrote the screenplay for Brave with Irene Mecci, writer of Disneys The Lion King. Director Marc Andrews has worked as a storyboard artist on Cartoon Networks Samurai Jack and Star Wars: Clone Wars, but also directed Pixars short One Man Band, which was nominated for an Academy Award in the category Best Animated Short Film in 2006. Andrews also co-wrote the screenplay for the upcoming Disney feature John Carter based on the books by Edgar Rice Burroughs.















Animation has been carefully placed into the professional hands of many digital artists, including Jude Brownbill (BBCs Kerwhizz and Blue-Zoo Productions Those Scurvy Rascals), Robb Denovan (Peter Jacksons King Kong) and Rich McKain (who did excellent graphics on EAs video game Oddworld: Strangers Wrath). Brave will be released on June 22, 2012 in the US, European releases have been set for July/August. The theatrical trailer has just now been released today so check it out above. Exactly a year ago the guys at Rockstar did us all a favor and released the first trailer of their upcoming videogame Grand Theft Auto V. While its still a bit in the dark when exactly they will release it, theyre now saying Spring 2013, which means anywhere between March 20 and June 21. Just yesterday, they gave us the second trailer, showing much more of the game and characters, and I can only say...WOW!

The artwork looks so great, knowing how big this thing is gonna be, its just amazing really. The new location is reported to be bigger than all areas of GTA IV, Red Dead Redemption and GTA San Andreas combined! Im thinking this will be an industry changer and some new milestones will definately be set. Guess we already know whos going to win the Best game of 2013 award, right?
